Hi! My name is Alex Presser, but most people just refer to me as "Nik". I am a Senior Game Design Major at Champlain College specializing in Systems, Narrative, and Sound Design.
I know I wear a lot of hats in the studio (like my iconic Blue Hood), but as a sound designer I'm primarily focused in Audio Engineering, Music Composition, and Foley Art. I've had a lot of experience scoring to picture, sourcing audio clips to be turned into in-game audio fx, and writing music and ambience for usage across my various projects.
As a narrative designer, I have experience working in Quest Design and World Building. Creating worlds is my specialty, as my passion comes down to understanding the intricacies of the fictional societies that reside within the game world's I'm involved with
Lastly with systems design I focus on rapid prototyping of game systems to better communicate with my team on ideas that we want to see iterated upon and carried into final release. These can be small things like an ability system or individual upgrades to quick and dirty combat systems to allow the team the most efficient route to development in-engine.
Outside of general game design, I am a very avid metal artist, guitarist, and trombone player who has been involved in music circles throughout my career, helping me grow in not only creative and collabortive environments, but also helping me pave my own creative methods.
Career-wise I am looking to break into the game industry as a developer. Additionally I do work under my own freelance organization, Blue Hood Studios, where I not only develop my personal projects further, but also work on sound design and composition contracts across many multimedia projects.
